Purpose of the State Association:

  1. To provide open and effective channels of communication among the Association members.

  2. To develop a collective identity among the Association members.

  3. To be a visible and representative body within the Big Brothers Big Sisters federation at thelocal, regional, and national levels.

  4. To develop opportunities for member agencies to benefit through membership engagement,professional development, and legislative advocacy.

Ways for Agencies to Engage with the State Association:

  1. In addition to your Executive Director, assign an additional staff person as State Association Liason, to help strengthen the connection between your agency and the State Association. Liasons act as internal connectors within your agency, ensuring relevant staff are invited to meetings, submitting requested data, etc.

  2. Attend meetings

  3. Assign at least one agency staff person to a Committee

  4. Consider nominating someone to join the Executive Committee

Committees:

We encourage all agencies to have at least one staff person on a State Association committee. Committees include:

Impact Committee

  • Committe Chair: Kyle Putinski, BBBS of Summit, Stark & Medina Counties

  • Purpose: To expand the collective impact of BBBS throughout the state of Ohio (data collection, innovation)

  • Ideal for: Program leadership, new staff

Professional Development Committee

  • Committee Chair: Beverly Pearch, BBBS of East Central Ohio

  • Purpose: To actively engage new and existing members by providing training & professional development

  • Ideal for: Anyone interested in training and development, across all areas of agencies

Statewide Partnerships Committee (AKA Legislative Committee):

  • Committee Chair: Elizabeth Martinez, BBBS of Central Ohio

  • Purpose: To influence state policies, communicate statewide impact, coordinate opportunuties for statewide partnership

  • Ideal for: Agency Leadership, Development & Marketing Staff
